Sarigam Industrial Estate

  • Spread across 400 Acres Area
  • Existence Since 1982
  • All type of Industries –Small Scale, Medium Scale and Large Scale
  • Different types -Chemical, Plastic,Engineering and Textile etc
  • Initially as the estate was marching towards growth industries faced setback in growth due to lack of infrastructure facilities.
  • Industries were managing their water requirement through bore well. In the year 1984, Government of Gujarat with the active cooperation of Sarigam Industries Association started water supply scheme through Damanganga Dam in to a water reservoir in the Sarigam estate.
  • There was no conveyance facility to discharge effluents of industries and hence effluents were drained in open drainage which resulted in Public Interest Litigation file in Honourable Gujarat High Court in the year 1993. To solve this problem Government of Gujarat with active support of Sarigam Industries Association set up underground effluent drainage pipe line network having effluent pumping stations at various locations and the discharge was done through 14 kilo meters underground drainage line in to the Arabian sea through an efficient diffuser system with the permission of Central Regulatory Zone authority as per their norms.
  • In the year 1983-84 industries received another setback due to octroi introduced by Gram Panchayat. Again this was overcome with the initiative of Gujarat Government by declaring Sarigam as Notified Area in the year 1997-98.
  • Till 2002 there was acute power problem with power cut of 2 to 3 days in a week. This issue got resolved since 2003 with no power cut in the estate.
  • After overcoming issues as above the industries in the estate have seen growth again and now no land is left unsold in the estate. This growth lead to pollution issues again in the estate which resulted in Public Interest Litigation in Honourable Gujarat High Court in the year 2009. Sarigam Industries Association with the proactive role of Gujarat Government set up 15 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant with a state of art technology including tertiary treatment facilities.
  • Future projects of the estate include revamping of street lights, drainage pumping stations, road widening, storm water gutter, water reservoir capacity, additional electric power substation, Hall & Auditorium of Sarigam Industries Association and overall improvement of greenery in Sarigam. Efforts are being made for Solid waste treatment & disposal project.
  • Sarigam Estate has around 550 industrial units out of which there are around 5% large, 20% medium and 75% small scale industries. These industries consist of about 20% Chemical, 10% Textile and 70% other industries such as Engineering & Plastic etc.
